If you’re like us and have been binge-watching the true crime series Forensic Files for many years, you’re probably clamoring to see some new cases explored. Fortunately, that day has almost arrived, as the sequel series Forensic Files II will premiere on television later this month. Premiering on HLN on the evening of Feb. 23, the updated Forensic Files will “showcase all-new mysteries to solve and feature the same style, music, story type, and content that fans know and love.”
While Forensic Files II may look and feel similar to the original series, it certainly won’t sound the same. The great Peter Thomas served as the narrator of the original series, and his distinct voice became synonymous with the show as a result. Sadly, Thomas died in 2016, and HLN needed to bring in a new narrator to step in for Forensic Files II. Veteran actor Bill Camp, who recently appeared as Detective Garrity in Joker, will be serving as the new narrator of the series.

Originally airing on TLC under the name Medical Detectives, the series first premiered in 1996. After four seasons, the series would move to CourtTV where it would be given its more familiar title. Forensic Files would ultimately run for 14 seasons overall until it came to an end in 2011, serving as the premiere true crime series for many years before television became filled with similar programs.
Although it was cancelled many years ago, Forensic Files continues to be binged by many fans of the series to this very day. HLN is constantly airing the classic episodes and they can also be found streaming on Netflix. There’s even a Forensic Files channel on the free streaming service PlutoTV that plays the classic episodes 24/7, showing just how popular the series remains nearly a decade past the end of its run. Let’s hope the sequel series turns out just as well.

I don’t have cable or dish, can I still watch the new Forensic Files?
They are leading off with a murder case that was explored quite well by a different network. At least they could launch with a new murder case, of which there is a neverending supply. The victim is found stuffed in a closet or such inside the bldg.
