The Resident Evil franchise is returning to Netflix, this time with a live-action series. 2021 was a busy year for the franchise, with the game release of Resident Evil: VIIIage, and the releases of the Netflix animated series Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, and the film Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City. The new stand-alone series will launch on the popular streaming platform later this summer.

The story is said to follow two separate storylines, detailing the past and present in the Resident Evil universe. The first storyline will follow Jade and Billie Wesker, two sisters that believe their father, Albert Wesker, is working on a project that could end up destroying humanity. The second story takes place ten years later, when only 15 million humans remain in the world, and the rest of Earth’s humans and animals are infected with the T-Virus.

Andrew Dabb is the show’s creator, and wanted to show a new look at Resident Evil‘s zombie apocalypse. The cast will include Ella Balinska (Charlie’s Angels), Lance Reddick (John Wick), Turlough Convery (Saint Maud), and Tetiana Gaidar (Bosch: Legacy).
The eight-episode series from Constantin Film will premiere on Netflix on July 14th, 2022. Check out the trailer below!
