On Sunday, August 9th, 2026, the world lost cinematic icon Reggie Bannister after dealing with health issues for several years. He was one of the most unlikely heroes to grace our screens for more than five decades. In the early 2000s, I met Reggie once at a comic convention. He was one of the first actors I ever met, and he didn’t disappoint. He actually asked me for a favor: to walk to the other side of the convention hall and get his box of posters from a vendor friend who had transported them for him.
He was chatting with a small group of fans, and I was happy to do it. He graciously thanked me for helping him out, and I spent some time just bullshitting with him about film and music. He was the standard by which I would base all my celebrity interactions—a true class act.
