Would you want to see a new open world game set in the Star Wars universe? It seems such a project is entering production from EA Vancouver!
According to GameSpot, Electronic Arts has put out a job listing online for an upcoming video game project. The ad seeks a “lead online engineer” for an open world Star Wars project with online play. Applicants are required to have experience working with online features such as matchmaking and server host migration. If you happen to be an engineer with interest (and 10 years of experience), visit to EA’s website and submit your résumé!
A new multiplayer Star Wars game with an open world sounds pretty amazing to me. Of course, as things are still very early in development, anything can happen. Apparently, a similar job listing back in 2013 hinted at a similar project from EA going into production, but that game ultimately never came to fruition. Hopefully things will go better this time, because I’m down for exploring an open Star Wars universe!
Naturally, some fans may be leery, given the controversies that came out of the release of Star Wars Battlefront 2 (head on over to Kotaku to see how much of a nightmare that saga has been). One would hope that lessons were learned, and things will turn out a lot better for this new game. Stay tuned for future updates!
