Treehouse of Horror XXIX trailer The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror XXIX 1

This weekend at Comic-Con 2018, fans of The Simpsons got a first look at this years’ “Treehouse Of Horror XXIX,” which will be the series’ 29th Halloween special.

In the trailer, aliens from another planet release green spores into space, which pass by the USS Orville blowing up the Planet Express as it holds a sign saying “Bring back Futurama.” The spores make their way to earth, only to hit our much beloved town of Springfield. The spores immediately begin their attack, starting with Lenny, Carl, and Disco Stu. The spores spread to Comic Book Guy, who remarks, “Oh great, an homage to Body Snatchers,” before ranting about it being a remake of The Thing.

In addition to the Body Snatchers segment, “Treehouse Of Horror XXIX” will feature Homer competing against H. P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu in an eating contest…and winning. There will be some Jurassic World excitement when the wealthy and evil Mr. Burns opens a retirement home that injects the occupants with dinosaur DNA. And, we will see Lisa snap after she gets graded a ‘F’ on a paper.

The Simpsons is now in its landmark 30th season, and the “Treehouse Of Horror” specials are still one of the best annual traditions on TV. “Treehouse Of Horror XXIX” will air on October 21, 2018 on Fox.
