The original Friday the 13th movie was filmed in Blairstown, New Jersey, and the town has since become a bit of a tourist location for major horror movie fans. Many of the locations seen in the 1980 movie are still standing today, and residents are now accustomed to seeing visitors. The local Blairstown Museum has embraced the town’s history in cinema as the location of the fictional Crystal Lake, and this fall, they’ll be hosting the first-ever annual event known as Jason Fest!
Jason Fest will take place at Hunter’s Lodge, just minutes away from the shooting locations in Blairstown. There will be tons of entertainment for Friday the 13th fans to enjoy at the event. Ari Lehman, the first-ever ever to portray Jason Voorhees, will be present with his band FIRST JASON to provide music for the festivities. Lehman will also be offering a meet-and-greet with exclusive autographed photos and a “never-before offered photo opportunity.” A screening of Friday the 13th will also be held on a large outdoor screen, meaning fans can actually watch the movie with Jason Voorhees himself.
Also included at the event are a roaring fire with camp snacks; an all you can eat buffet; beer and wine at a private outdoor bar; special access to 13 Friday the 13th vendors; a Camp Blood gift bag described as the best one they’ve ever given out; tons of giveaways; and more. A “Ring In The New Scare” countdown will also be held at the stroke of midnight when Thursday the 12th becomes Friday the 13th.
To summarize, this fall will mark the first-ever Jason Fest where fans can watch the original Friday the 13th in the same place it was filmed with the actual Jason actor from the movie. This ultimate fan experience will be taking place on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019. You can find out more and purchase tickets at the Eventbrite website and the Facebook event page!
