Ted Bundy’s Ex-Girlfriend Speaks Out in New Amazon Docuseries

For the first time in nearly four decades, Ted Bundy‘s former long-term girlfriend Elizabeth Kendall is speaking out about her relationship with the infamous serial killer. Her story comes as part of a new five-part documentary series Ted Bundy: Falling for a Killer, which is set to begin streaming on Amazon Prime in 2020. Kendall first met Bundy in 1969, and the two wound up dating for the better part of the 1970s. Also interviewed for the docuseries is Kendall’s daughter Molly, whom Bundy helped raise as a toddler during his relationship with Kendall.

According to the official synopsis, the docuseries will particularly explore “the disturbing and profound way in which Bundy’s pathological hatred of women collided with the culture wars and feminist movement of the 1970s, culminating in what is perhaps the most infamous true crime saga of our time.” It paints a familiar picture of what we’ve come to know about the notorious madman and the hypnotic effect Bundy seemed to have on women at the time.

In 1981, Kendall released the book The Phantom Prince: My Life with Ted Bundy, touching on her long-term relationship with the serial killer. However, Kendall has not since spoken publicly about Bundy, taking no part in any other documentaries on the subject. Along with opening back up about the relationship with “new unsettling details,” Kendall will also be unveiling never-before-seen family photos. The docuseries will be sharing the stories of some of Bundy’s other survivors as well.

Earlier this year, Netflix served as the streaming home for multiple projects centering on Bundy. This includes the film Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile with Zac Efron playing the murderer, along with the docuseries Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes. Bundy may have been executed in 1989, but his infamy lives on.
