With no new Friday the 13th movies coming to the big screen anytime soon, indie filmmakers have been doing their part to keep the spirit of Jason Voorhees alive. This has been by way of Friday the 13th fan films, with fans who love the franchise turning to make their own Jason movies to keep the carnage coming from horror’s greatest slasher. Multiple fan films based on the series have already been released with many more on the way from various filmmakers, and one that I’ve had my eye on for a while now is the upcoming movie Voorhees.
Directed by Cody Faulk, Voorhees is described as a Friday the 13th fan film with a “dark and sadistic vision of the franchise.” This means we can expect to see lots of bloodshed in the film as Jason butchers a band of criminals unlucky enough to wind up at the abandoned campgrounds of Crystal Lake. To help promote the project’s final crowdfunding campaign to finish production, the Voorhees team has released a new teaser of the film, giving viewers a peek at the man of the hour returning from the depths of Crystal Lake’s murky waters. Take a look at it below!
Synopsis: Criminals have stolen a small fortune from a bank. Instead of trying to outrun the police they plan to lay low in a remote location with a notorious past until the heat is off. Their efforts to find sanctuary become complicated when they cross paths with a sinister force that has long been forgotten.
To gather the funds required to complete post-production, Voorhees is in the midst of its final crowdfunding campaign with just days left to go for backers to get involved. Posters, Blu-rays, T-shirts, and even the movie’s script are all being offered as perks for those who donate. You can find out more about Voorhees and get in on any of those perks by heading on over to Indiegogo!
