The Syfy network’s Chucky television series will reportedly start filming this summer, and it would appear Jennifer Tilly will be on the set to reprise her role as Chucky’s wife Tiffany. Talking with Page Six, Tilly recently spoke about the Child’s Play franchise and addressed her status status as a horror film icon.
From the interview:
“I’m so excited. Chucky is very near and dear to my heart. All over the world, everywhere I go, I step off a plane to a country I didn’t even know existed, and they know one word, and that word is ‘Chucky,’ and they want a hug.”
Speaking a little more about the show, Tilly points out how the original creator of Chucky will be involved to collaboratively develop Chucky with Nick Antosca for Syfy. While not giving specifics, Tilly also teases her return as Tiffany by suggesting she’s been informed she’ll get to be a part of the project. Via Page Six:
“Don Mancini, who created the [original] Chucky 30 years ago is the writer on this series, so it’s the original Chucky. [Mancini’s] partner is Nick Antosca, who did ‘Channel Zero,’ which is just a chilling anthology of horror stories, so a little bird told me that I am going to be a part of it.”
We would expect many other stars from previous Child’s Play and Chucky movies to appear in Syfy’s Chucky series, but no names have officially been confirmed at this time. It seems more than likely Brad Dourif will be back to reprise the voice role of Chucky once again, but it will also be nice to see some other stars from the franchise like Alex Vincent and Christine Elise. In any case, the show is going to be one for Chucky fans to check out when it makes its way to air.
For now, you can revisit Tiffany’s debut in the Child’s Play franchise by watching her in a scene alongside her plastic husband in the clip from Bride of Chucky below.
