Horror legend Tony Todd, known for his iconic roles in Candyman, the Final Destination series, and the 1990 remake of Night of the Living Dead, has been cast in the voice role of Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Sony announced the much-anticipated sequel of Insomniac Games’ massively successful 2018 game yesterday at the 2021 PlayStation Showcase event.

Todd is no stranger to voice-acting, or the superhero and comic world, as he voiced Zoom in CW’s The Flash, Darkseid in multiple animated DC films, Blade in Marvel Superhero Squad Online, and most recently, ScareGlow in Netflix’s Masters of the Universe: Revelation.

Todd’s unmistakable and guttural voice is a perfect choice for the symbiote alien personality of Venom, which had a resonating and chilling effect on viewers of yesterday’s trailer. It seems that Spider-Man’s most monstrous and unpredictable villain will be one of the game’s main antagonists.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be released on PlayStation 5 sometime in 2023.

In 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man, players took on the role of Peter Parker, who is a crime-fighting expert after eight years behind the mask. As the superhero, swing through New York City neighborhoods and catch breathtaking views of iconic Marvel and Manhattan landmarks. Use the environment to defeat villains with epic takedowns in true blockbuster action. The game features improvisational combat, dynamic acrobatics, fluid urban traversal, and environmental interactions. To check out our coverage of the game, including our review, click here.
