Spoiler Warning: The Boys Season 3, Episode 6, “Herogasm”
Over the last week, there have been videos from The Boys cast members pumping “Herogasm” up as “outrageous” and “over the top.” There are many moments in the episode where viewers wonder what the hell they are watching. However, it is just part of an episode full of one-liners, satire, sarcasm, death, destruction, and moments where so many characters have a chance to shine.
Hughie and Butcher have now hidden Soldier Boy away as they plan to help him get his revenge and get rid of Homelander once and for all. Soldier Boy agrees and, while snorting pills and drinking whiskey, tries to catch up on where the world is at right now. Suffice it to say, his observations on many things are interesting and hilarious, especially his take on Bill Cosby (it makes sense in the context of the conversation). Still, he’s unreliable for many reasons, not the least of which is his blacking out and letting loose his upgraded powers that seem to be triggered by anything Russian.
Meanwhile, Kimiko is kidnapped and wakes up tied to a chair, side by side with Cherie, who is also bound to a chair. While restrained, Frenchie is brought in and forced to choose who will die between the two. This is payment for his failure to fulfill his end of the bargain that saw Kimiko get medical treatment. It is one of those moments where a character is expected to die, but everyone escapes. Afterward, we get another great moment between Frenchie and Kimiko, strengthening their bond while realizing there might never be a way to outrun their past and who they are.
First on the revenge hit list for Soldier Boy against his old team is the TNT Twins, who seem to have caught the attention of many. Not only is Starlight and Mother’s Milk on the way to see them, but Homelander is now aware of Soldier Boy and sends The Deep to investigate. As it turns out, a lot is going on at the home of the TNT Twins, that being Herogasm. This is an annual event sponsored by Vought, where Supes get together to act out all of their carnal desires in one big orgy. Yes, you will see some things you can never unsee.

Everyone arrives at different times, but no one can stop Soldier Boy as Russian words again trigger him. While killing the TNT Twins, he loses control and destroys much of the house, killing many. Homelander arrives, and we finally get a showdown between him and Soldier Boy, soon aided by suped-up Butcher and Hughie. However, before Soldier Boy can finish the job, Homelander escapes. The carnage left behind is finally too much for Starlight, who goes live, telling all and quitting simultaneously, setting the stage for some high-end repercussions.
There were a lot of little moments in The Boys: “Herogasm” where we saw key players grappling with their demons, most wrapped in a mad desire for revenge. Mother’s Milk, Starlight, Soldier Boy, and Butcher all want vengeance of some kind, and it’s interesting to see how they go about it and what lengths they are willing to go to to achieve it. A-Train also has a pivotal moment, one that may cost him everything, and the same can be said for Starlight. Some rationalize what they are doing so it’s easier to get the job done, while others continually question everything. As usual, in the middle of it all is Homelander, who, as powerful and unhinged as he is, is the wild card in every situation he is in.
However, the writers and showrunners never lose sight of the satire and twisted humor, and they let loose with this right from the opening scene with the hilarious take on celebs singing “Imagine.”
While The Boys: “Herogasm” will forever be known for what we see in the annual celebration of debauchery, the powers that be wisely wrap many other moments around that part of the episode. It is an hour of drama, sex, and mayhem that we might not see again. Well, with this show, who knows?
The final two episodes of the season should be fascinating.
