They may only appear on store shelves during the Halloween season, but everybody loves General Mills’ cereal monsters. Boo Berry, FrankenBerry, and Count Chocula have been a morning breakfast staple for the month of October dating back many years. Their popularity have recently gotten them some love from Funko, giving them PEZ dispensers and POP! dolls in their likenesses. Now, General Mills is looking to capitalize on the spooky cereal mascots even further by bringing them to the big screen in a feature film.
This is irresponsible. Dozens of crashed cars are currently piling up on Sunset Blvd, as horny cereal fans like me get distracted from the road pic.twitter.com/x0RKDMmiwh

Recently, comedian Joe Kwaczala posted a photograph on Twitter of a billboard sign featuring FrankenBerry. The pink monster is laying on the ground in a pose that’s almost seductive. On the image is the website WorkWithTheMonsters.com, which leads fans of the cereal to a site run by General Mills. There, people answer some questions about themselves before next being asked to “pitch” ideas for a Cereal Monsters Cinematic Universe. Yes – General Mills wants to develop the story into a feature film (or several of them), and they want your help to do it!
From the website:
“We’re calling all filmmakers, actors, agents, writers, producers, animators, tastemakers, dealmakers, movers and shakers.
We want to work with you to bring great stories to life. From mythical fables to magical journeys. Fairy tales to folk tales. Cliffhangers to nail-biters. Heroic sagas to cosmic battles. Binge-worthy dramas to historical epics. Blockbusters to indies. Serials to sequels.”
If they’re looking to create a whole universe with these characters, that means they’d ideally like separate films for each of the monsters. This means pitches could be for one of the specific characters, and doesn’t need to necessarily feature all three of them.
Count Chocula: The Movie certainly sounds interesting enough, but is it really possible for this idea to keep filmgoers entertained for 90 minutes? Perhaps there are some highly creative people out there with intriguing ideas to bring Boo Berry and his friends to the big screen. You can give it a shot yourself over at WorkWithTheMonsters.com!
