The animated series Terminator Zero is in jeopardy with a fate that remains unknown. Though it hasn’t been officially confirmed by Netflix that the show won’t be moving forward, recent reports suggest that the series has been quietly cancelled.
Word that Terminator Zero may already be finished after one season stems from a report from Cancelled Sci Fi, having since spread with coverage from other outlets. It was noticed that when Netflix recently released its complete slate of originals for 2026, both Terminator Zero and Leviathan were suspiciously absent. Also reported was that there are no entries in Production Weekly about production moving forward on either of these animated shows.
Notably, Netflix hasn’t announced a renewal nor a cancellation for the series. As it stands, however, things aren’t looking good, and fans are reacting to the rumors online. Many on Reddit have shared their opinions about how Terminator Zero has seemingly been squashed, with some expressing disappointment that the show may not be getting a second season after all.
“That’s devastating news, S2 was what I was most looking forward to on Netflix,” one fan lamented.
“That is a huge bummer for me,” said someone else. “I loved it and thought it was the best addition to the lore since the SM Stirling books.”
As another fan put it, “Bummer. I don’t watch a lot of anime but I thought this was the best thing to come out of the franchise since T2.”

Others were more in the middle of the road, with one such person noting, “I felt it was a one and done anyway. I’d have liked more, but I’m happy with it as is.”
“Hey man, this really sucks if true,” reads another reaction. “Even if it’s not super high level, I loved this show because it wasn’t anything like I’d seen before. “I will always watch any sort of Terminator media and it sucks we lost this one.”
Developed for Netflix by Mattson Tomlin, Terminator Zero debuted on the streaming platform in Aug. 2024. The anime series was set in Tokyo just before Judgment Day unfolded in 1997, following an AI developer whose family is targeted by a cybernetic assassin. Its reception was largely positive, garnering an 87% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes with a 79% audience score.
