The produce is fighting back once again in the latest installment of the Attack of the Killer Tomatoes franchise. A new teaser trailer has been released for the upcoming feature film, dubbed Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: Organic Intelligence. This comes ahead of a special screening for the film ahead of its wide release later this year, courtesy of Anchor Bay.

The early screening is scheduled for Feb. 20 at the USS Midway Museum in San Diego. All proceeds will benefit Freedom Park at Burnham Navy Pier.

Fans of the franchise will really appreciate the casting. At the age of 95, revered actor John Astin (The Addams Family) returns to reprise his role as Professor Nicholas Mortimer Gangreen, the character he previously played in both live-action and animation. The film also stars David Koechner (Anchorman), Dan Bakkedahl (Veep), Daniel Roebuck (The Munsters), Catherine Corcoran (Return to Nuke ‘Em High), Paul Bates (Coming to America), Vernee Watson (The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air), and Eric Roberts (The Cable Guy, Oz).

This will mark the fifth movie in the franchise, which first began in 1978 with the original Attack of the Killer Tomatoes film. Astin joined the franchise with the first sequel, 1988’s Return of the Killer Tomatoes. That was followed by 1990’s Killer Tomatoes Strike Back and 1991’s Killer Tomatoes Eat France. The animated Attack of the Killer Tomatoes series also debuted in 1990, featuring the voice of Astin.
