Toronto International Film Festival (or TIFF) started up yesterday and will continue through Sunday, September 18th, 2016. Many titles are being shown for the first time here, as is tradition, which results in us at home receiving trailer drops. This includes a red-band trailer for writer/director Ben Wheatley‘s upcoming action-thriller-black comedy, Free Fire.
Boasting a star-studded cast of Brie Larson, Sharlto Copley, Armie Hammer, Cillian Murphy, and Jack Reynor among others, Free Fire‘s story appears to exclusively occur inside a warehouse. A shootout begins after an arms deal gone awry, and critics’ early impressions compare this movie to one of Quentin Tarantino‘s best, Reservoir Dogs. Advertised is a black comedy with plenty of action and suspense, evoking the feeling of maybe a Guy Ritchie movie, but more understated.
For those unaware, ‘red-band’ trailer means the trailer includes vulgar language and more violence than usual, so I recommend headphones for those at work. Also, despite the YouTube tag, the current U.S. release date (or year, rather) is 2017.
Expect more TIFF news and trailers in the week or so to come!
