While we love the classics, there are plenty of modern ghost movies that do well at delivering scares. So, here are six supernatural films that will help ensure that you lose a bit of sleep after watching.
2Amityville: The Awakening (2017)
A single mom of three (Jennifer Jason Leigh) moves her family to 112 Ocean Avenue, including her brain-dead teenage son. While the film takes place in the house where the legendary murders occurred, it is outside of the series’ universe. The demonic presence that haunts the house soon gets to work on the new family, using the brain-dead son as a vessel.
As the tenth Amityville film, I would argue that it’s one of the best in the entire series. Taking on a meta approach, The Awakening is a breath of fresh air in a stale franchise, even though it flew pretty under the radar. It also has some genuinely scary moments.
