7The New Mutants
Synopsis: Magik, Wolfsbane and other teenage mutants try to come to grips with their superpowers while staying at a secret facility.
Although the film is based on Marvel comic books and takes place in the X-Men movie universe, this is not your standard superhero film. It is described by writer and director Josh Boone as a horror film, with the titular team of budding superheroes being held captive against their will as they’re just beginning to learn about their abilities. Originally set to be released this year, the film was delayed to allow for reshoots which will make the film darker and more frightening.
The film was pitched by Boone to be the first in a trilogy of superhero horror films. It’s an interesting concept, and if it pays off, there will likely be more to come. The New Mutants‘ solid cast includes names like Anya Taylor-Joy, Maisie Williams, Charlie Heaton, Blu Hunt, and Henry Zaga as the group in question. Its official trailer from Fox also seems pretty promising.
