Attendees of this year’s South by Southwest Conference & Festivals in Austin, Texas, will be able to see the new Pet Sematary ahead of everyone else. On the official website for the event, the new horror film has been confirmed as one of the headlining titles. The movie will be the final premiere of the festival, closing out the film portion of the event. Between this and Jordan Peele’s Us opening the event, SXSW 2019 is going to be particularly amazing for major horror fans.

From Paramount Pictures, the new movie is directed by Kevin Kölschand and Dennis Widmyer. Jason Clarke and Amy Seimetz star as two parents whose lives are completely shattered following the heartbreaking and preventable death of their son. Desperate to right this wrong and see his son again, the father buries him in a nearby cemetery which apparently has the ability to bring the dead back to life. Of course, as the trailer suggests, sometimes dead is better, as the ones who come back are not quite the same as they were before. John Lithgow also stars.

After the blockbuster success of 2017’s It adaptation, Pet Sematary has the potential to do very well. Stephen King is perhaps more popular than ever, and his Pet Sematary novel is just as well-known and beloved as It. How the movie performs at the box office ultimately remains to be seen, but it will be exciting for the people at SXSW to judge its quality for themselves before the rest of the world gets their chance.

If you can’t make it to SXSW 2019, you can watch Pet Sematary when it premieres in theaters everywhere else on April 5. Take a look at the official trailer below!

Synopsis: Dr. Louis Creed and his wife, Rachel, relocate from Boston to rural Maine with their two young children. The couple soon discover a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods near their new home. When tragedy strikes, Louis turns to his neighbor Jud Crandall, setting off a perilous chain reaction that unleashes an unspeakable evil with horrific consequences.
