‘Halloween H20’: 10 Things You May Not Know

Miramax Films

Halloween H20: Twenty Years Later may no longer exist in the current Halloween continuity, but many franchise fans still remember the flick fondly. Let’s revisit the 1998 slasher sequel with these ten killer facts about the film!

1It was almost directed by John Carpenter

The original Halloween film from 1978 is the one that started at all. It’s the only film in the entire franchise to be directed by John Carpenter, although the filmmaker still worked on the first two sequels and the 2018 movie. However, like Jamie Lee Curtis, Carpenter could have returned to the franchise with Halloween H20 by directing the movie, which almost actually happened.

During pre-production, Carpenter was approached by producers to possibly direct the 1998 sequel. Initially, Carpenter agreed to do the movie, as long as certain expectations were met. Apparently, the legendary filmmaker wanted more than what Dimension was willing to provide, and negotiations fell apart soon after.

Following this falling out, Carpenter would again steer clear of the series until finally returning to it in 2018 along with Curtis for David Gordon Green‘s new sequel to the 1978 original. In addition to working on the soundtrack, Carpenter executive produced and served as a creative consultant.
