Set for a release on Blu-ray and VOD this month, the short film compilation Hellarious brings together seven of the festival circuit’s very best horror comedies from a variety of talented filmmakers. From sinister lunch ladies obsessed with Johnny Depp to a Satanic guitar and reverse werewolves, there’s something for everyone to enjoy in Hellarious, with each short’s hilarity serving as the common link between each title.
“Hellarious is the perfect movie to celebrate the Halloween season,” says anthology creator Jason Tostevin. “There are scary stories, eww moments that will make you squirm, and even some weirdly sweet moments. And of course, they’re all absolutely hysterical.” All of the included shorts are additionally described by FilmSpawn founder Chris Ethridge as a one-of-a-kind project that brings together “all of the iconic shorts people have been hearing they have to see,” conveniently compiling them all in one place for film lovers to appreciate.
While the seven horror comedy short films included in Hellarious have been enjoying their own film festival runs, the limited edition Blu-ray will exclusively include the world premiere of a new short called A Very Important Film. Written by Clarissa Jacobson and directed by Shayna Weber, the film is an apparent “parody send-up of self-important festival films” created as a promotional short for Jacobson’s film Lunch Ladies. Of course, Lunch Ladies is one of the films featured in Hellarious, and you can get an idea of what it’s like by watching the teaser below.
Lunch Ladies and A Very Important Film are just a couple of the many entertaining horror comedies to be found in Hellarious. Other titles confirmed to appear in the compilation include Horrific by Robert Boocheck (ABCs of Death 2), Death Metal by Chris McInroy, Born Again and ‘Til Death by Jason Tostevin and Randall Greenland, Killer Kart by James Feeney, and Bitten by Sarah K. Reimers.
You can now pre-order a limited edition Blu-ray and VOD release of Hellarious at HorrorPack.com, courtesy of Film Spawn. According to the website, the physical copies will ship on or around Sept. 17, 2019. The official trailer is on Vimeo, and you can also check out the official poster for Hellarious below!
