‘Chopping Mall’ to Stream for 24 Hours on Black Friday

Shout! Factory TV will be celebrating Black Friday this year with a 24-hour marathon of the classic Jim Wynorski horror flick Chopping Mall. First released in 1986, the mall-set film sets loose murderous security robots upon a group of teenagers who sneak into the building after-hours for a night of partying. A cult classic, the film is a lot of fun and Black Friday is certainly a better time than ever to play Chopping Mall on an endless loop.

Oddly, despite its status as a cult favorite, Chopping Mall is one of those classic horror movies from the ’80s to never get a reboot or a sequel. That’s not to say there haven’t been attempts made in the past to do so, including a controversial pitch to reboot the film with killer mannequins replacing the robots. For better or for worse, an official sequel has yet to come to fruition, making the original Chopping Mall truly a one of a kind film.

Something else to appreciate about Chopping Mall is the inclusion of character actor Dick Miller, who sadly passed away this year. His role as one of the mall’s janitors is highly amusing, albeit rather short. Also appearing in the cast are some other fan favorites of the horror genre, including Kelli Maroney and Barbara Crampton.

The Chopping Mall marathon will begin on Friday, Nov. 29, at 12 a.m. PT, and will repeatedly air the film for the following 24 hours. It can be viewed on ShoutFactoryTV.com, as well as Shout Factory TV’s Roku, Amazon Fire, Apple TV, and Android Apps. The livestream will also be available on Twitch, Samsung TV Plus, Xumo, and STIRR.
