From Wild Eye Releasing, the new killer clown flick Clownface will be unleashed On Demand and DVD this month. The film is directed and written by Alex Bourne and stars Thomas Loone (Wuthering Heights), Philip Bailey (Dr. Who, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw), and Hannah Dougles (U Want Me 2 Kill Him?).
Killer clown movies have the potential to be really fun, but to be honest, it can be pretty hit-or-miss with most of these kinds of films. One approach for filmmakers is to embrace the zany and over-the-top nature of killer clowns, having the films serve more as dark comedies than horror flicks. The other way to handle these movies is to present the clown as a genuinely disturbing freak of nature, with no cheesy one-liners or clown-themed jokes to ham everything up. Clownface is certainly in the latter category, going by the trailer.
Synopsis: A deranged young man, donned in a clown mask made of human flesh, terrorizes a small town with a series of abductions and murders. Neighbors Jenna and Owen search for their missing friend Zoe, who may be the latest victim of this local urban legend known as Clownface.
