‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Tiny Arcade Has Arrived

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Tiny Arcade (Nickelodeon/Super Impulse USA)

One of the most memorable arcade machine cabinets of the 1980s is back, but it’s now much smaller than you remember. Released in 1989, the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade game is getting a Tiny Arcade version set to be released next month. Although the screen is now just 1.5 inches with a 3.75 x 1.75 x 1.75 cabinet, the game is fully functional and features three levels of gameplay based on the full-size original arcade version.

One look at this thing makes it obvious that it would be one awesome collectible. The design of the Tiny Arcade itself looks just like the full-size cabinet, making it instantly recognizable to 80s and 90s kids who have fond memories of visiting the arcade during those years. The game also features a full color, hi res screen with the old school game sounds. A mini joystick and two buttons are also included. Better yet, it comes with the 3 AAA batteries needed to run, along with instructions and a keychain.

Of course, there are other options for playing the classic game if the Tiny Arcade is just too small for you. Previously, Arcade1UP released a much larger arcade cabinet with a 17″ color LCD screen and an optional riser to give it more of a boost in height. That cabinet also features the original artwork from the TMNT 1989 arcade game, also including additional joysticks and buttons to allow up to four players. Along with the 1989 game, the larger arcade also includes the hit follow-up title Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time.

Still, not all of us have the space to be installing full-size arcade machines into our homes, making the Tiny Arcade version a bit more practical. You can read more information about the Tiny Arcade and pre-order yours now by visiting Amazon. The machines will begin shipping on Sept. 7.
