One of the true masters of suspense films, M. Night Shyamalan, announced last week via his Twitter account that his new film, Knock at the Cabin, has started filming. The two-time Oscar nominee has been quite prolific over the last few years, churning out several feature films, including Old, Glass, and Split, as well as presenting and directing four episodes of the Apple TV-exclusive series, Servant.

Not much is known about the film at this point. Shyamalan keeps things pretty well under wraps, so as not to spoil the trademark twists he writes into his stories. However, via his Instagram, he posted, “One week finished on Knock at the Cabin, such intricate performances this week. Very dark, emotional film. One take shook me up so much I had to walk away to collect myself. Hopefully you’ll feel it when you guys see it.” The film has been described as a home invasion horror movie, that takes place during the apocalypse.

Universal Pictures will be distributing the film, and Shyamalan has produced and written, to go along with directing the film. So far, the cast includes Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy, Blade Runner 2049), Rupert Grint (Harry Potter series, Servant), Nikki Amuka-Bird (Old), Ben Aldridge (Pennyworth), and Jonathan Groff (Hamilton, Mindhunter).

Knock at the Cabin is currently set to release on February 3rd, 2023.
