The A24-produced Friday the 13th prequel series Crystal Lake may bring on one of the industry’s top FX artists. Bryan Fuller, the showrunner and creator, teased Tom Savini‘s involvement in a social media post today. The series is currently in development and will be available on the Peacock streaming service upon release.
In the social media post on Fuller’s official account, a smiling Bryan Fuller has his arm around Tom Savini with a caption stating, “Talking stabby calendar days with O.G. @thetomsavini #fridaythe13th #crystallake.” Hopefully, the stars will align, and Savini will join the cast and crew.

Tom Savini is no stranger to the Friday the 13th franchise. He did the makeup and special effects for the original 1980 film as well as Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter in 1984. Savini has also worked on some of horror’s most beloved films as an artist, including Maniac, The Burning, The Prowler, Creepshow, Dawn of the Dead, and Day of the Dead.

Crystal Lake will explore the story of the infamous camp prior to Jason Voorhees’ drowning and Pam Voorhees’ murder spree, though exact plot details are still unknown. From 2012 to 2015, Bryan Fuller was the showrunner for the popular Hannibal Lecter series Hannibal. Despite the fact that the show has been off the air for several years, it still has a devoted following. Will they watch his Camp Crystal Lake series? Only time will tell.
In a statement to Peacock, Fuller explains, “I discovered Friday the 13th in the pages of Famous Monsters magazine when I was 10 years old, and I have been thinking about this story ever since. When it comes to horror, A24 raises the bar and pushes the envelope, and I’m thrilled to be exploring the campgrounds of Crystal Lake under their banner.”
