The cast of Beetlejuice 2 is coming together, as Willem Dafoe has just landed a role in the long-gestating sequel. Recently, the film was officially announced by Warner Bros. and given a release date of Sept. 6, 2024. It was also reported that Michael Keaton would be returning as the ghost with the most, while Jenna Ortega would also star as the daughter of Winona Ryder’s character. It’s also been reported that Ryder and Catherine O’Hara will reprise their Beetlejuice roles, while Justin Theroux and Monica Belucci have joined the cast.
Now, THR reports that Dafoe has become the latest cast member of Beetlejuice 2. In what feels like perfect casting, it’s been revealed that he will be playing a “law enforcement officer in the afterlife.” Dafoe should be able to slip into Beetlejuice 2 rather well, given how recent performances prove he’s still at the top of his game. That includes a return as the Green Goblin in the massive blockbuster Spider-Man: No Way Home, as well as other acclaimed turns in The Northman, The Lighthouse, and Inside.
Full plot details haven’t yet been revealed. What we know is that the screenplay comes from Wednesday creators Miles Millar and Al Gough, while Tim Burton will be returning to direct. Burton also served as a director on half of the first season of Wednesday, which starred Ortega.
Beetlejuice 2 will be released in theaters on Sept. 6, 2024.
Can’t wait!!!!
