Kevin Williamson, who first helped director Wes Craven bring Sidney Prescott to life with the original Scream, is hopeful for Neve Campbell to return for the seventh installment.

After appearing in the first five Scream movies, Campbell declined to reprise her role as Sidney for Scream VI. She stated publicly that her reason for the pass was because the pay that was offered was insufficient, given her contributions to the franchise. Williamson, who wrote the screenplays for ScreamScream 2, and Scream 4, said that Campbell needs to be paid what she’s asking for to ensure Sidney’s return in Scream 7.

“All I can say is, ‘Pay her the money,'” Williamson said on the Happy Horror Time podcast, per Deadline. “I know her well. I love and adore her, and that’s what she did and it’s great for her. I love everyone involved with Scream and all I can say is pay her the money. Yes, you heard it, everyone. That’s what I would do. I would give her that… One day, they’ll figure that all out.”

Williamson served as an executive producer on 2022’s Scream and its sequel, Scream VI. It was recently reported that Christopher Landon had signed on to direct the upcoming Scream 7. No plot details have yet been revealed about the seventh installment.
