Pauly Shore has been paying attention to the fans calling for him to star in a Richard Simmons biopic, as the actor is trying to make it happen for real.
For decades, Simmons had done his part to help his fans stay fit with his weight-loss programs and aerobics specials. For nearly a decade, the fitness guru has stayed out of the spotlight after what seems to have been a quiet retirement. Meanwhile, there have been memes and other social media posts circulating suggesting Shore should play Simmons in a movie. Taking to Instagram, Shore revealed that he’s now actively trying to turn that idea into a reality.
“I’ve noticed all the reactions to me playing Richard Simmons in a new biopic,” Shore stated. “So I reached out to him. I heard he’s living deep in Big Bear. We’ve been playing phone tag (yes, he still has a phone). I’m trying to make it happen for you guys. Be optimistic. In the meantime, hit up [Hulu, Prime Video, Disney+, Max] and all the big producers. I definitely can morph into this guy. Ill see you at [the Oscars in] 2025.”

Shore is very well-known for his ’90s comedy classics, including Encino Man, Son in Law, and Bio-Dome. More recently, he’s been doing voiceover work, and he appeared as himself in the film How It Ends. He can also be seen on-stage touring with his stand-up, and more information about his tour can be found on his official website. As for whether the Richard Simmons movie will happen, that remains to be seen.
