Cocaine Werewolf (2024) Blu-ray Cover

Cocaine is a hell of a drug, especially when consumed by wild animals. With the arrival of Cocaine Bear (2023), there’s been a slew of beasts partaking in the recreational drug such as the Cocaine Shark, Cocaine Cougar, Cocaine Crabs, and if that wasn’t hard enough, there’s Crackcoon, Crackodile, and Meth Gator. They’ve all appeared in the last two years, but when cocaine finds its way into the system of a werewolf, all hell really breaks loose. Cleopatra Entertainment and MVD Visual have brought the next wave of coked-out monsters to Blu-ray in Mark Polonia’s Cocaine Werewolf. It’s a great title, but is it worth taking eighty minutes out of your day? I took the plunge for you, and this is what I think.

A Wall Street business exec on his way back to Manhattan is wounded by a vicious werewolf. Out in the middle of nowhere, all he has on him is a couple of bags of cocaine. The wound is causing him to hallucinate, and things about him begin to change. Once he snorts himself a few lines, he turns into a werewolf himself, leaving a trail of bodies behind him.

A film crew is shooting out in the northern woods of Pennsylvania when they bring in the man to help. However, they’re in for the fight of their lives when he overindulges in the white powder, once again transforming him into a blood-thirsty beast.

With Cocaine Werewolf, you get exactly what you expect: cheap effects, questionable acting, senseless nudity, and bad jokes. It’s not winning any awards or blazing any trails but it’s just pure camp, meant to entertain, to make you laugh. Does it succeed in that respect? Yes and no, depending on the type of films you enjoy. If you’re reading this review, you’re most likely going to have a good time with it because you already know what it is. It’s a film that’s probably best viewed with friends on a boring night.

The one thing that’s abundantly clear, it appeared that everyone involved had a good time making it and that’s all that really matters. With over ninety directorial credits to his resume, director Mark Polonia has created his own indie empire and has just added a new cult classic to it with Cocaine Werewolf. The music is also notable since it features tracks from bands like The 69 Cats, Front Line Assembly, Switchblade Symphony, and more.

The disc from Cleopatra and MVD looks as good as it possibly can and features a commentary track, trailer, and trailers for other releases by them. Cocaine Werewolf is campy fun, and that’s all it really sets out to be, so mission accomplished.
