Stephen King‘s 1975 horror novel ‘Salem’s Lot is getting adapted for the small screen. The first adaptation was a made-for-TV miniseries that debuted on CBS in 1979. Tobe Hooper (The Texas Chainsaw) directed the film, which stars David Soul, James Mason, Lance Kerwin, Bonnie Bedelia, Lew Ayres, Ed Flanders, Fred Willard, and Julie Cobb.
Although the book has since been adapted again, the miniseries remains the most memorable and beloved due to Barlow’s iconic Nosferatu-inspired appearance and the vampires’ menacing glowing eyes. Time will tell if the newest film will capture the hearts of horror fans as well.
Here’s everything to know about Max’s Salem’s Lot.
The Plot
The story follows writer Ben Mears as he returns to his hometown of Jerusalem’s Lot, Maine, also known as Salem’s Lot. When he arrives, he inquires about the infamous Marsten House, a dilapidated mansion on a hill above the town. However, he learns that it was recently purchased by a mysterious Mr. Barlow and his business partner, Richard Straker, who opened an antique shop in town.
Soon after Mears, Barlow, and Straker arrive, townspeople begin to disappear or die. An evil has taken over Salem’s Lot; can anyone stop it?
