As you can see from our list of 2025 anticipated horror films, the year has a lot to offer genre fans. One film we’re particularly excited about is Heart Eyes, which has the potential to become a modern Valentine’s Day horror classic. While the Day of Love has a few notable devoted slashers, such as My Bloody Valentine (1981), Lovers Lane (1999), Valentine (2001), and My Bloody Valentine (2009), there is always room for more.

Spyglass Media Group, the same company behind Scream (2022), Scream VI (2023), Thanksgiving (2023), and the upcoming Scream 7 (2026), is producing the movie. We’ll soon find out if audiences welcome it like they did Eli Roth’s Turkey Day slasher.

For years, the “Heart Eyes Killer” has terrorized Seattle on Valentine’s Day, stalking and killing lovers. Unfortunately, two coworkers working overtime are mistaken for targets and must spend the most romantic night of the year running for their lives.

As reported by Variety, director Josh Ruben is pretty passionate about the film, stating, “My love of horror is rivaled only by my love of romantic comedies. I’m excited as hell to mount my most challenging genre-bender to date: a brutal slasher in a nostalgic rom-com universe.”
