The Scream and Scary Movie franchises go together like peanut butter and jelly. Since the start, the Scary Movie films have poked fun at Scream by spoofing the Ghost Face killer’s killing sprees. Fans of both franchises are in for a treat this year, as Scary Movie 6 will arrive this year following the imminent release of Scream 7.
Better yet, there won’t be any time wasted in getting fans hyped for Scary Movie 6. Franchise star Marlon Wayans has revealed that the first trailer for Scary Movie 6 will be seen on the big screen, playing in theaters ahead of Scream 7. Addressing the new sequel on the Rap Attack Official podcast, Wayans said the trailer will be playing exclusively in theaters, leaving it unclear when it will be uploaded online for everyone else to see.
“We drop the trailer in front of Scream, so when you see Scream, you’re going to see the Scary Movie trailer,” Wayans stated.
Confirming the returns of several fan favorites, he added, “Anna Faris is back, Regina Hall is back, Shorty is back, which is me. Shawn is back as gay Ray. We got a host of others. Doofy is back.”

Other reported cast members include Jon Abrahams, Lochlyn Munro, Chris Elliott, Cheri Oteri, Olivia Rose Keegan, Savannah Lee Nassif, Cameron Scott Roberts, Sydney Park, Gregg Wayans, Ruby Snowber, Benny Zielke, Damon Wayans Jr., Kim Wayans, and Heidi Gardner.
Scream 7 premieres in movie theaters on Feb. 27, 2026. Scary Movie 6 will follow with a release on June 12, 2026.
