EA has a need…a Need for Speed. See what I did there? Moving on then, Ghost Games are developing EA’s latest race ’em up, Need for Speed Payback.

For fans of the series, Need for Speed Payback is going with a heavy story-driven premise. As per the release information from EA:

Need for Speed Payback has a single player campaign that follows the exploits of former street racer Tyler Morgan. After being double-crossed and forced into exile, it’s time for Payback. Tyler must rebuild his crew, win an impossible race and bring down The House, the cartel that has a grip over the city’s casinos, criminals and cops.”

As true to the series, players will have a decent selection of motors to thrash about. There will be 5 classes to choose: Race, Drift, Off-road, Drag and Runner. One of the staples of the series, in fact, of any racing game these days, is customization. Make your car look amazing, while tuning it up to become a real contender. During the exploration, get a visual treat with mountains, cities and deserts. You can also find an old banger to fix up and turn it into your next beast.

Your cars aren’t the only thing that’s had an upgrade. The police chases have taken a leaf from Los Santos PD and brought heavy duty vehicles and helicopters to slow you down. This ties in well to how the story mode cash system works. You can make the big bucks by betting on yourself to win. Of course, if you lose, you’ll end up having an empty wallet.

As with any game these days, you’ll have the choice of the Standard and Deluxe Editions. Along with this, you’ll also get a bonus for pre-ordering the next racer in this great series. For pre-ordering, you’ll get the Platinum Car Pack. The includes the Nissan 350Z, Chevrolet Camaro SS, Ford F-150 Raptor, Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport. Got to admit, I’d love to own a Ford F-150 Raptor!

For anyone that shells out for the Deluxe Edition, you’ll get access to play the game 3 days prior to its release. You’ll also get a story mission pack, NOS color and license plate.

Are you excited for EA’s next racer? If so, it will be out on PS4, Xbox One and PC on November 10th, 2017. You will get it slightly earlier, on November 2nd, if you’re an EA Access Member, or November 7th if you stump up for the Deluxe Edition.

  1. Is it just me, or does that sound like “Fast and Furious” part 124?
I mean, it’s cool that there’s going to be a plot and the game would be a bit different from all the previous ones. I hope they will step up their game with this one. Anyway, it’s probably a sentimental thing, but I actually can’t wait to play it 😉
