An all new video game starring the Power Rangers will be hitting consoles and PC in just a few months. Called Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid, the fighting game comes from nWay, who previously released the mobile fighting game Power Rangers Legacy Wars. With heroes and villains spanning over the past 25 years of the franchise’s history, this will be especially exciting for longtime fans.
A teaser trailer featuring Jason David Frank, who plays the legendary character Tommy Oliver, has been released online which confirms the game’s release. You can take a look at it below!
nWay has partnered with Hasbro and Lionsgate for the project, which goes all the way back to Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers for its selection of characters. Rangers and villains from throughout the series will be available as playable characters in the game, essentially making this the Power Rangers version of Super Smash Bros. An official statement from nWay describes its control scheme as “knowing when to strike, not how,” suggesting success relies on timing your attacks over traditional button-mashing.
The game will first be available in April on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch. Better yet, cross-platform play will be available across all three consoles, letting friends on different system duke it out in online ranger battles. A PC version will arrive at an undetermined date in the future, following the April release of the console edition. Best of all, Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid comes with an affordable price tag, modestly priced at $19.99. If you’re a die-hard Power Rangers fan, however, you can pay a little more for the special collector’s edition, which will run you $39.99.
