November 7th is a day known to fans of the Mass Effect series as N7 Day. It came to be in 2012, as a day to celebrate all things Mass Effect. The name was taken from the sigil that can be seen on Commander Shepard’s armor (N standing for Special Forces with 7 being Shepard’s rank). In celebration of this year’s N7 Day, BioWare finally did what the fans have been wanting for years and announced the Mass Effect Legendary Edition.
BioWare General Manager Casey Hudson also confirmed the news on the BioWare Blog:
“It’s tough keeping a big secret (and we really struggled to keep this one a surprise) but now it’s official: today we announced the Mass Effect Legendary Edition! We’ve heard (for years!) your requests for a Mass Effect remaster, so we’re super happy to finally reveal that we’ve been working on a remastered edition of the Mass Effect trilogy,” Hudson writes.
The Mass Effect Legendary Edition will include all the single-player content from Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3 as well as all DLC for each game. The collection also includes promo weapons, armors, and packs. All this will be remastered and optimized for 4K Ultra HD.

The Mass Effect Legendary Edition is expected to drop in Spring 2021 on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Forward compatibility and targeted enhancements for the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 are on their way as well.
Additionally, BioWare announced that they are working on the next installment in the Mass Effect series, but nothing more can be said just yet. You can watch the official teaser trailer for Mass Effect Legendary Edition in the video below.
