When Prime Video dropped the first three episodes of Reacher Season 1’s eight-episode run in one day, it sparked instant excitement, followed by the sad realization that the season would be over so soon. Thankfully, Season 4 ended with a bang.
The Season 4 finale, “Cut,” was a strong reminder that, despite the season’s flaws and lethargic early episodes, the show can still deliver action and fun in abundance.
The Reacher Season 4 Finale Turns the Abandoned Restaurant Into a War Zone
With the shock of Congressman Sampson (Marc Blucas) still hanging over everyone’s heads, the team pushes on to find Lila (Agnez Mo) and Amisha’s (Anggun) next target. Russell Plum (Kevin Weisman), still in the hospital recovering from his gunshot wound, recognizes the suicide bomber and passes key information to Detective Docherty (Kevin Corrigan).
Unfortunately, by the time the cops find the warehouse where they were set up, all that remains is the drum containing the dead test subject. There are no clues about where they went next.
After considering possible locations, the team realizes that the women, their mobile lab, and key personnel have likely returned to the abandoned restaurant, where they tortured and killed Jacob’s (Christopher Marquette) nephew. Given that the police have already been there, it seems like a great place for them. There’s plenty of space, no interruptions, and a low risk of the police coming back.
When Reacher (Alan Ritchson), Tamara (Sydelle Noel), and Jacob arrive, they confirm they are in place. With no backup and few weapons, they have no choice but to go in and try to stop them.
This is where the episode goes off the rails, mostly in a good way. About half of the 55-minute episode is spent here, which means plenty of action and plenty of dead bodies. Reacher, always one to use whatever is at hand to dispatch enemies, uses a propane tank, a freight elevator, two-by-fours, guns, and, of course, his bare hands to take out the thugs before the inevitable showdown between himself, Lila, and Amisha.

While that is happening, Jacob and Tamara are forced to leave and pursue one of the thugs who has been ordered by Amisha to take the biological weapon and disperse it. The target is a nightclub. They manage to stop him, but not before he drops the container from an upstairs area. In one of the few eye-rolling moments in this episode, the container somehow doesn’t break, and everyone is safe.
Speaking of threats, Reacher has his hands full with Amisha and Lila. It’s a great fight, with plenty of action and a variety of events unfolding. These two are very well trained, especially with knives, and as the fight continues, it begins to take its toll on Reacher, who suffers many cuts, slices, and stab wounds.
However, this is Reacher, and we know he’s not going to die. After he throws Amisha out a window, he turns his attention to Lila, takes the syringe full of the chemical weapon she has armed herself with, and turns it on her. He watches her die in a fitting yet horrific death.
You’d think that would be the end, but there were still a few more surprises. A CIA agent with one ear, thanks to Reacher, shows up to take credit and kill Reacher, but then he is killed by Amisha. It seems she survived her fall out a window onto the concrete road below. She is about to kill Reacher, but Jacob shoots her, resisting the urge to kill her out of pure revenge. While no one would blame him, he arrests her instead. All that is left to do is clean up the mess.
Reacher Ends the Season With a Full-Circle Goodbye
Jacob says goodbye to his sister and nephew. Tamara gets promoted, and Reacher hands the flash drive to Plum so he can write a story exposing everything that happened. After a brief goodbye meeting with Congressman Sampson’s widow, Elsbeth (Kathleen Robertson), Reacher heads out of town on the subway. He quietly shares a Philly cheesesteak with a homeless woman, sitting in a spot similar to the one Anna Merrick (Karen Kwong-Chip) occupied, making it a great full-circle moment.
The Reacher Season 4 finale went all in on great action and pushed the story along at a strong pace for most of the episode. There were some eye-rolling moments of action and story ideas, but the show is a lot like the main character himself, always moving forward in whatever way will take you there.
Reacher Season 4 had its ups and downs and was really slow out of the gate, but the back end of the season gave Reacher fans exactly what they wanted. Now we eagerly await the next season’s release.
