From the producers of It: Welcome to Derry, Crystal Lake will serve as an official prequel to Sean S. Cunningham’s 1980 slasher classic Friday the 13th. The series will focus on Jason Voorhees’s mother, Pamela Voorhees, who worked as a cook at the camp the summer her son was supposedly drowned in the lake. As in the first film, Pamela’s grief takes over, driving her to seek vengeance.
Peacock has released six new images and a full trailer ahead of the show’s release next month. The official logline reads, “The series follows single mother Pam Voorhees who has been unable to shake her grief after her young, sickly son Jason tragically drowned in the town lake almost a year before. When two strangers arrive at Pam’s door, digging into her past, a disturbing chain of events is set into motion, leaving the townspeople of Crystal Lake wondering: just who is Pam Voorhees?”
Linda Cardellini, who previously starred as Velma Dinkley in Scooby-Doo and in Mad Men and ER, portrays Pamela Voorhees. Betsy Palmer played the role in the original film and reprised it in Friday the 13th Part 2. Cardellini is a beloved figure in the horror community, and the trailer makes it clear she is the perfect choice for a young Pamela Voorhees.
Starring alongside Cardellini are William Catlett, Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins, Gwendolyn Sundstrom, Callum Vinson, Nick Cordileone, Joy Suprano, Danielle Kotch, and Phoenix Parnevik. Brad Caleb Kane (It: Welcome to Derry) serves as creator, writer, showrunner, and executive producer.

Other executive producers include Marc Toberoff, Victor Miller, Robert M. Barsamian, Robert P. Barsamian, Stuart Manashil, Tyson Bidner, Michael Lennox, and Roy Lee. Episodes will be directed by Michael Lennox (1-3), Celine Held and Logan George (4-6), and Quyen Tran (7-8).
All episodes premiere on Thursday, October 15, 2026, exclusively on Peacock.
