Breakthrough Entertainment, one of Canada’s elite cultivators of independent film, will be highlighting the horror films Let Her Out and Bed of the Dead at the 2016 American Film Market in Santa Monica, California.
Let Her Out and Bed of the Dead were produced in association with Black Fawn Films and are both films are coming off of extremely successful festival runs on an international level. In addition, the company recently saw a successful U.S. release of their film Bite with distributor Shout! Factory. Our review of that film can be found here.
Let Her Out synopsis: The film follows Helen, a bike courier who suffers a traumatic accident. As she recovers, she begins to experience strange episodic-blackouts, hallucinations, and night terrors-that lead her to discover that she has a benign growth that is the remnants of a ‘vanishing twin’ absorbed in utero. Over time, the tumor manifests itself as the dark and demented version of a stranger. As Helen’s emotional and psychological state begins to deteriorate, she begins to act out in psychotic episodes -influenced by her evil twin- making her a danger to herself and her best friend, Molly. It’s only a matter of time before this evil side of Helen will take her over completely.
Bed of the Dead synopsis: The film tells a tale of two young couples out for a night of debauchery at the city’s oldest sex club and find themselves stuck on a haunted bed where leaving means suffering some gruesome fate. Plagued with frightening hallucinations, they must figure out the bed’s secret before they are picked off one by one.
