Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise in Stephen King's IT 2017
Warner Bros.

A terrifying new teaser trailer for Stephen King‘s It remake has just been released. It shows the iconic moment Georgie loses his newspaper sailboat while playing in a rainstorm. The trailer also takes us into the tunnels for a brief glimpse at Pennywise on the attack. Many scenes not in the original 1990 made-for-TV film are featured, so it’s great to see that it may be more true to the book.

Horror fans have either loved or hated the idea of another adaptation of Stephen King’s It, but this first look makes us optimistic. It will be great to see an even darker side of Derry. While replacing Tim Curry is an impossible task, the talented Bill Skarsgård looks incredibly menacing as Pennywise as he interacts with Georgie, played by Jackson Robert Scott.

The film also stars Jack Dylan Grazer, Sophia Lillis, Jaeden Martell, Finn Wolfhard, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs, and Jeremy Ray Taylor. It is directed by Andy Muschietti (Mama) and has a screenplay by Chase Palmer, Cary Fukunaga, and Gary Dauberman.

  1. Great review, Melissa. I don’t consider this a remake. The first IT aired on tv so that doesn’t count for me. I remember reading IT in the 80s & dreaming of a way it could have been a film. It was always cinematic!
