Cast your mind back to 1997. PC gaming was at it’s height and growing stronger. Strategy games like the Command and Conquer series were selling well. System 3 decided to try this market, with a humorous game of their own, namely Constructor. Now, because reboots are thing, it’s back with a shiny 2017 facelift.

If you’re not aware of the 1997 gem, you’re essentially a landlord and property mogul. You have your own HQ that allows you to create your resource buildings, then from there, houses to home your tenants in.
It sounds wonderfully simple, but it’s quite tricky. There is a large balancing act of keeping your resources at a decent level, keeping your tenants happy, making money and making more people. When you get going, your tenants provide you money, but they also provide you with either future tenants or workmen.

At the moment, I’m playing the demo that came out on the PlayStation Network today. The first thing I found epic, is that the tutorial is voiced by none other than John Challis. Pretty much everyone in the UK will know who that is. If you don’t know, he played Boycie in the legendary Only Fools and Horses. Well, back to the tutorial. It’s great at running you through how the game works. Even if you’ve been recently been playing the original again, like me, it’s good a refresher back into the property mogul world.
It starts off having you to build a lumber yard, followed by your first house. It gradually gets you into the gameplay and mechanics of the game very well. Before you know it, you’ll have your own empire, even if you do it via some underhanded tactics.
The Constructor reboot seemingly has the same gameplay we all know and love. It’s just had a graphics boost. Highly recommend giving this a go. You can check out the demo on Steam, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One!
