Ubisoft have officially revealed a trailer and gameplay footage for Assassin’s Creed Origins, the anticipated next installment in the long running Assassin’s Creed series. Following several leaks over the past few months, Ubisoft unveiled that Assassins Creed Origins will take us to ancient Egypt. Players will walk in the shoes of the presumed founder of the Assassins’ Brotherhood, Bayek. Referred to as an Egyptian “sheriff,” Bayek will parkour his way across ancient Egyptian cities and jungles to hunt down a group of individuals on his list.
The trailer and gameplay hint at some of the new features for the franchise, such as a new RPG-style loot system, the ability to call in an eagle ally to scout the area from above, slow motion arrow shooting, and even shields. It also appears that ship gameplay is making a return from Assassin’s Creed Black Flag. The trailer alludes to supernatural threats, such as giant snakes and inhumanly large enemies. A unique new ability to fire a guided arrow controlled by the player was also shown. It looks like the franchise may have ditched the more serious and realistic elements of previous installments and embraced the badass absurdity of grown men jumping from buildings into piles of hay.
After taking two years out of the franchise to refine their formula following the well received Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, it looks like the Assassin’s Creed is only going to get better.
So, what do you think of Assassin’s Creed Origins? Are you excited to return to the Brotherhood, or is this one best left in its sarcophagus? As always, let us know in the comments and on social media!
