Capcom revealed at San Diego Comic-Con last week that Shin Akuma will appear as a secret character in Ultra Street Fighter 2: The Final Challengers on Nintendo Switch.
Akuma, also known as ‘True Demon’ or ‘True Devil’, first appeared in Stret Fighter Alpha 2 as a hidden boss. He would later become a selectable player on the console ports of the game, and would feature on and off throughout the many incarnations of the Street Fighter video game series. The inclusion of the character here is a nice touch, and adds to the nostalgic feel of the game – which is its top selling point, according to fans.
Ultra Street Fighter 2: The Final Challengers launched on the Switch back in May, and was met with mediocre reviews at best. It has been described as a nice piece of nostalgia, but as a standalone game it’s pretty weak.
So how do you unlock Shin Akuma? Players have to follow the following steps on the character select screen:
- Choose Ryu, highlight color 1, then press cancel.
- Choose Ken, highlight color 9, then press cancel.
- Choose Sagat, highlight color 8, then press cancel.
- Choose M. Bison, highlight color 7, then press cancel.
- Highlight the random select, then press L and R simultaneously.
It’s worth mentioning though, that players will need to repeat these steps every time they want to use the character, because as soon as the game is reset his vanishes from the selection page. Bummer, hu?
