Our favorite animated babies are coming back… to both the big and small screens! As reported by The Wrap, Nickelodeon is reviving the beloved animated series Rugrats, nearly 14 years since the final episode aired. Picking up where the series last left off, the show will feature returning characters, as well as the introductions of some new ones.

Nickelodeon has ordered 26 new episodes of Rugrats, and production is already underway. Unfortunately, there’s no cast information available, so we can’t confirm as to whether the entire voice cast will be returning. However, Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, Lil, and Angelica will definitely be featured, and hopefully with the same voices.

Rugrats is hands-down one of the most celebrated cartoons in TV history, and we are thrilled for a whole new audience to meet these iconic characters in brand-new adventures,” explains Nickelodeon Interim President, Sarah Levy. “What was true in 1991 when the original show premiered is still true today: kids are fascinated with the world of babies. We can’t wait for today’s kids to meet Tommy, Chuckie and pals.”

If you can believe it, that’s not all. Another season of Rugrats isn’t all Nickelodeon has in store for us. Apparently, they’ve ordered a live-action movie based on the series as well. Written by David Goodman, the movie will be a “live-action film featuring CGI characters.” Presumably, the adults will be played by real actors, while the kids (and possibly Spike) will all be CGI. As of now, the film is set to be released on November 13, 2020.

This isn’t entirely surprising, as Nickelodeon is already bringing back other classic shows. Upcoming revivals for Invader Zim and Rocko’s Modern Life have also been announced. Blue’s Clues will also soon be rebooted with a new host on the network, for the younger Nickelodeon watchers. Bring back Doug next, and I’ll be a very happy guy.
