For all properties to have a crossover with The Walking Dead, I certainly wouldn’t have expected this to come first!
As reported by Gamestop, Bandai has revealed the new characters heading to Tekken 7 as a part of the Season 2 pass. A reveal video shows several of the newcomers being added to the roster, but most exciting of all is the addition of a certain bad guy from the highest-rated show on television! The Walking Dead‘s Negan, the leader of the Saviors played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan on the hit TV series, is confirmed in the clip to be coming to the game as a playable fighter.
Unfortunately, Negan is only teased in the clip. While we do get to hear Morgan’s distinct voice, we are only shown a silhouette of Negan holding his trademark barbwire bat, Lucille. How Negan will look exactly in the game remains to be seen, but just to know he’s coming is really exciting for fans of the popular zombie franchise.
Let’s go ahead and address the elephant in the room. At first, you’d think Negan would be more suited to be included in a Mortal Kombat game. After all, there are no fatalities in the Tekken games, so don’t count on splitting anyone’s head completely open Lucille. However, just because he won’t be splattering Paul or King’s brains on the ground, playing as Negan in a fighting game still sounds pretty amazing.
This clearly opens the door for more characters from The Walking Dead to invade other video game properties. Maybe Daryl Dixon will be showing up in the next Street Fighter title. I never thought I’d see Negan in Tekken, so, you never know!
The Tekken 7 Season Pass 2 is coming soon to PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Also included in the DLC are Tekken fighters Anna Williams and Lei Wulong. You can watch the reveal video for Negan in Tekken 7 below!
