David Allen’s The Primevals
David Allen’s The Primevals

It has been announced that Full Moon Features will complete David Allen’s unfinished film, The Primevals, and release in 2019. Allen started working on the idea in the 1960’s, with production starting in the late ’70s. He directed the sci-fi/fantasy film, with Charles Band coming on as producer in 1978. However, The Primevals kept going into production hell due to financing issues and never got made before Allen’s death in 1999.

The plot involves “a secret Himalayan valley populated with giant Yetis and an ancient race of alien lizard men” and combines both live-action scenes with stop motion animation. David Allen is a legendary visual effects artist and worked on films such as WillowGhostbusters IIHoney, I Shrunk the Kids, and Puppet Master.

There was obviously a lot of passion that went into the film on behalf of Allen, who worked on The Primevals for decades. It will be a huge treat for Allen’s fans, as well as fans of stop motion animation, to finally see the project completed and released! We also cannot wait to hear more as we get closer to the 2019 release.

Next week, the newest film in the Puppet Master series, Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich, will be released by RLJE Films. Directed by Sonny Laguna and Tommy Wiklund, The Littlest Reich stars Thomas Lennon, Michael Paré, Jenny Pellicer, Nelson Franklin, and Charlyne Yi. The story takes place at a convention after the killer puppets wind up at an auction and go on a killing spree.

Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich will be released via RLJE in theaters, on VOD and Digital HD on August 17th. Horror Geek Life will have a review available for the film next week, but in the meantime, you can check out the red band trailer here.
