Ever since his first comedy song aired on the radio in 1976, “Weird Al” Yankovic has gone on to become a pop culture phenomenon. By the ’80s, Yankovic would become world famous thanks to his penchant for spoofing songs by hit artists like Michael Jackson and Madonna. As the decades went by, most musical artists seemed to come and go, but Yankovic is still doing what he does best.

Now, Yankovic will finally have his status in pop culture immortalized on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. For most fans of his, the only surprising part about this news is that Yankovic didn’t have a star already. The news comes straight from Yankovic himself, who announced it on Facebook.

The ceremony will take place on Monday, Aug. 27, at 11:30 AM (PST). This event is FREE to the public, meaning any and everyone is welcome to attend. Al will be getting his star at 6914 Hollywood Blvd., across the street from the “world-famous Chinese Theatre.” Yankovic will obviously be present to say a few words, and he will be joined by his old pals Dr. Demento and Thomas Lennon.

Weirdly enough, Yankovic has already been in entertainment headlines lately due to a viral video floating around online. During a musical performance by the band Weezer, Yankovic made a surprise appearance onstage, to the delight of everyone in the crowd. Even weirder, Yankovic and Weezer then dove into a rendition of “Africa” by Toto, and it’s just as amazing as it sounds.

Fans of Al’s will be happy to know that he is in fact still touring. While his 2018 tour is over, Yankovic has already made clear his plans to go on the road again in 2019. It’s a must see show for any fan, so to keep up Yankovic, you can head on over to his official website.
