With the newest Halloween film coming out next month, October really is the month of Carpenter. Along with the already announced 4K remaster and limited theatrical re-release of The Fog, three other John Carpenter films are getting the same treatment.
October will see the release of The Fog and They Live in beautiful 4K physical sets, while Escape From New York and Prince of Darkness will see set releases later on November 26th.
These films will also be re-released in theaters, in full 4K restoration form. The Fog, They Live, and Prince Of Darkness will open on October 26th and will run until October 31st. Escape From New York will hit theaters for one night only on November 22nd.
The 4K remastered sets are must-haves for any fan of Carpenter. Full disc details haven’t been shared yet, but each set contains four discs, including copies of the CD soundtrack. The sets will contain a selection of brand new and best of bonus features accumulated from previous releases. To top off the Collector’s Edition, each movie will have a poster designed by UK artist Matt Ferguson. I love these movies, and the posters might be my favorite parts of the Collector’s Editions. Check them out below!
The Fog synopsis: An unearthly fog rolls into a small coastal town exactly 100 years after a clipper ship sank in its waters. Now the ghosts of the drowned mariners return to take a bloody revenge on the town’s residents.
They Live synopsis: A drifter discovers a pair of sunglasses that allow him to wake up to the fact that aliens have taken over the Earth.
Prince of Darkness synopsis: A research team finds a mysterious cylinder in a deserted church. If opened, it could mean the end of the world.
Escape From New York synopsis: In 1997, when the U.S. president crashes into Manhattan, now a giant maximum security prison, a convicted bank robber is sent in to rescue him.
