4Child’s Play
Synopsis: A mother gives her son a toy doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister nature.
This upcoming remake of the classic 1988 film from director Tom Holland is causing some division in the horror crowd. Don Mancini, the man who created Chucky and has been directing new films in the series as recently as last year, has previously announced his plans to continue the story in a TV series. Regardless, MGM fast-tracked a remake of the original film, with Lars Klevburg directing using a screenplay by Tyler Burton Smith.
Certainly, remakes are always a scary concept, especially when dealing with cult classic films like Child’s Play. All of us can agree that Brad Dourif is irreplaceable as Chucky. On the other hand, this film could turn out to be a lot of fun by taking the story back to its simpler roots. Aubrey Plaza coming on board as Karen Barclay also shows that the casting is on point. We’re looking forward to this one.
