Art the Clown fans can rejoice as writer and director Damien Leone confirms that the script for Terrifier 2 is now complete.

We were recently introduced to a new modern horror icon in the form of Art the Clown, portrayed by David Howard Thornton, in Terrifier. After premiering at the 2016 Telluride Horror Show, the film was picked up by Dread Central Presents and Epic Pictures and made available on Netflix streaming. It quickly gained momentum and positive reactions, holding a 73% Rotten Tomatoes rating, and has been memorialized by fans through figures, shirts, art, and more.

Terrifier follows two women on Halloween night as they encounter a clown, dressed in all black and white, who begins stalking them. After having car trouble, they enter an abandoned building while waiting for the sister of one of the women to pick them up, and find out quickly that they aren’t alone. One of the most psychotic clowns we have seen in film hunts them down, along with others who are in the wrong place at the wrong time, killing each person in truly gruesome ways. While the violence is mostly straight-forward, there are a few surprises thrown in.

After viewing the film, a sequel was immediately on our minds as the ending leaves an open door for Art the Clown to return. Today, Leone posted a picture of an Art the Clown coffee mug and the cover page for the first draft of a Terrifier 2 script on his Instagram.

Along with the photo, he says “Unfortunately, that is the only confirmation I can give right now but rest assured we’re working hard to bring you more Terrifier as soon as possible and I’m veryyy excited for you to see where Art’s diabolical journey goes from here! He’s back. And He’s badder than ever.”

We can’t wait to see more for Terrifier 2 as the project develops.
