March has begun, and that means it’s only a couple of weeks until Toronto Comicon 2019! This is a great entry point con for fans of all calibers as it’s offered at a fraction of the cost of a bigger con (i.e., Fan Expo, SDCC) but offers everything that makes the bigger cons great in nerdy bite-sized portions.
Toronto Comicon 2019 features a surprising guest list comprised of celebs who usually stick to the bigger cons. Ron Perlman (Hellboy, Sons of Anarchy) is one of the big headliners, and joining him are actors/actresses like Dan Fogler (Fantastic Beasts, The Walking Dead), Ryan Hurst (Sons of Anarchy, The Walking Dead), Emma Caulfield (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), John Rhys-Davies (Lord of the Rings, Indiana Jones), and more. Overwatch voice actresses Jen Cohn (Pharah) and Anjali Bhimani (Symmetra) will also be in attendance.
Can’t be a comic con without comic guests. Some of the big names attending this year are Mike Zeck (Artist, Punisher), Steve Englehart (Writer, co-creator of Star-Lord), Denny O’Neil (Writer, Batman), and so much more. On top of the many comic creators, the convention also features the coveted artists’ alley, where you can acquire just about any piece of art you’re after.
As cosplay gets bigger and bigger, so does its presence at conventions. Toronto Comicon 2019 has its own handful of cosplay guests that fans are able to take pictures with in costume. Brigit O’Regan, Bec of Hearts, and Scarlix Cosplay are only a few of the talented cosplayers on the Comicon roster.

There’s also a ton of stuff at the convention to occupy your time and make the ticket price worth it. Shopping is a huge deal at Toronto Comicon and a major reason why many people visit. It’s a perfect place for you to find that comic you need to finish a run or that figure or Pop! you need to complete a series. You’ll find stuff at Comicon that you’ll never find anywhere else.
Panels are a great way to be entertained throughout the con day. If there’s a certain actor you love but meeting them just isn’t your deal, then a Q&A is a perfect way to experience them first-hand for 45 minutes to an hour. Sketch Duels are an awesome time for anyone into art. Watching a few artists duke it out seeing who can draw the best version of a character is incredibly fun to watch, and you just might be lucky enough to win one of the sketches.
If anything up there appeals to your inner geek, or you just want to check out the convention and see what all the hype is about, then head on over to the Toronto Comicon website and grab a ticket. They’re available in single-day tickets or weekend passes. Toronto Comicon 2019 runs from March 15th to 17th.
